Ogun State: Water Crisis Hits Abeokuta Forces Community To Drink From A Broken Pipe

Residents at Panseke in Abeokuta, capital city of Ogun State are seen here fetching water for their domestic use from a broken pipe in a drainage channel.

The residents complain of lack of potable water in the vicinity, stating that majority of them source of water from traditional wells, which have dried up since last year.

However, they said respite came their way recently from from a broken pipe leaking in the gutter which appears cleaner and manageable. The residents claimed to have traced the water source to a leaking water pipe from a nearby rock, which pours unto the ground and flows narrowly in the pipe that runs into the drainage.

Some students of the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), who reside in Oluwo area of the community told eyewitnesses that they are also faced with   water crisis  and only manage what they scoop from their wells, which are now drying up due to the dry season.
