Lagos State: Banker Arrested For Stealing 50 Million Naira From Customers

The Special Fraud Unit, Ikoyi, Lagos State, has arrested an account officer of Guaranty Trust Homes, Adeola Olokojobi, in connection with a 50 million naira fraud at the financial institution. Prior to his arrest, Olokojobi was said to be working at the GT Homes, Saka Tinubu branch in Victoria Island.

Boko Haram: Attacks On Barracks Is Victory From Allah

The leader of Nigeria’s Boko Haram Islamists, Abubakar Shekau, has claimed a daring December 20 raid on a military barracks in the restive northeast, in a recent video obtained on Friday.


The insurgents stormed the barracks in the town of Bama in a convoy of trucks before sunrise, opened fired on the soldiers inside then torched the compound. Several witnesses said the gunmen kidnapped soldiers as well as women and children.

Incredible: Zimbabwe Man Fights Crocodile With Bare Hands To Save His Son's Life

A Mutoko father dived into a river and fought a crocodile with his bare hands to save the life of his 11-year-old son who had been seized while crossing Nyaitengwa River. Mr Tafadzwa Kachere and his son, Tapiwa (11) were both seriously injured in the battle and were yesterday admitted at Chitungwiza Central Hospital.


Tapiwa’s left leg had to be amputated, while his father’s left hand is badly hurt. Mr Kachere, who stays in Katiyo 1 Village under Chief Nyajina, said the crocodile attacked while they were on their way home from his garden.

Lagos State: Female Banker Cuts Off Her Husband’s Manhood During A Domestic Argument

A female banker, Mrs Bimbo Ajetumobi Daniju is now under police investigation in Lagos after she assaulted her husband during a domestic argument. The argument which started as a result of her husband’s inability to provide enough money for the family’s needs for Christmas later degenerated.


Mrs. Bimbo got angry, attacked her husband and cut his penis with a knife. While the husband, Olalekan Daniju, was eating on December 16th, his wife came and started shouting at him calling him unprintable names, she poured his plate of food on his head and proceeded to beat him with a bucket she found in the compound.

It was a bloody Christmas celebration in Lagos and Cross River states as no fewer than nine persons were killed in auto accidents on Tuesday night and on Wednesday morning. Five people comprising a baby, her mother, two brothers and a driver died on Wednesday in the Lagos State accident, while four youths died in the Cross River accident.

Ugandan Gay Man Burnt Alive Days After Anti-Gay Bill Was Implemented

The Government of Uganda has last week signed a bill that further bans homosexuality. According to CNN, a man was even burned to death for being gay shortly. The bill's original 2009 version, named "Kill The Gays," went as far as calling for the death penalty for certain homosexual acts; that provision was shelved following international furore. Under its latest iteration, anyone who conducts marriage ceremonies for same-sex couples faces seven years behind bars.


Failure to report homosexual activity to police is also criminalized. Doctors who treat gays, landlords who rent them property and those suspected of being in any act of homosexuality are subjected to five-year in  prison under the bill. Anyone who offers support to homosexuals will also be committing a criminal offence, which can reportedly extend to counselling.

A 43-year-old nurse, Bridget Osawaru, who was abducted on December 10th, has been found killed in Edo State after her kidnappers collected ransom.


Bridget Osawaru was abducted at her residence along Sapele road in Benin City on December 10th. Her abductors had collected N1.5m three days after the kidnapping but refused to release her until she was found dead.

A magistrate court in Iyaganku, Ibadan, Oyo State has ordered seven accused persons arraigned before it for conspiracy and defilement to be remanded in Agodi prison custody till January 27. The accused’s names were listed as Emmanuel Abiola (64) a.k.a. A Group Of Unknown Gunmen Launched An Armed Attack On Residents Of A Village In Kaduna

A group of unknown gunmen launched an armed attack on residents of a village close to Zonkwa in Zangon Kataf local government area of Kaduna State in the late night of December 21, 2013, Saturday.


According to a source of Saharareporters, the gunmen attacked the village with guns and other dangerous weapons, and then quickly escaped once security agents arrived in response to a distress call.

Police in Ondo state has released a top official of the Akure Zonal Office of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council, Mr. Boma Benibo, 59 who was alleged to have defiled a seven-year old girl.

President Goodluck Jonathan Holds An Emergency Meeting With Security Chiefs On The Spate Of Insecurity In The Northern Parts Of The Country

President Goodluck Jonathan has gathered an emergency meeting with the security chiefs on the spate of insurgents’ attacks in the areas under emergency rule on Friday.


The meeting followed another audacious attack on a military barracks on Thursday night by rampaging insurgents at Bama, the headquarters of Bama Local Government area.

President confirmed the meeting with security chiefs in the morning of Friday while speaking at the decoration ceremony of newly promoted generals of the Armed Forces.

However, he didn't provide any details of the attack, which culminated in the meeting before he attended the decoration ceremony scheduled for 8am.

Meanwhile investigations showed that the Special Forces killed 30 insurgents at a riverside community in Bama while they were trying to get water from the river in the morning on Thursday.

House Of Representatives Committee On Finance Has Given The Minister Of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, 'Homework' To Be Due In Two Weeks

The House of Representatives committee on finance has given the Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, a 'homework' in the form of 50 question as the lawmakers walked her out from the meeting on the state of national economy on December 19.


The Mminister had appeared before the committee chaired by Honourable Abdulmumin Jibrin but said she had felt bad. Jubrin ruled out that in this circumstances they could not take on the Minister but that they would give her "the 50 questions" for which she must respond to in writing within two weeks.

Abuja: Kabiru Sokoto Sentenced To Life Imprisonment For 2011 Christmas Day Bombing In Niger State

A federal high court sitting in Abuja, has found the mastermind of the 2011 Christmas day bombing, Kabiru Sokoto guilty of the crime of terrorism and murder. He was sentenced by Justice Ademola Adeniyi to life imprisonment.


Kabiru Sokoto was the mastermind of the deadly Christmas day bombing of St. Theresa Catholic church in Niger State that killed at least 44 people in 2011. He had confessed during the trial to be a member of the Shura council of Islamist sect Boko Haram.


Kano State Government Officially Outlaws Street Begging

The Governor of Kano State Rabi’u Kwankwaso signed the Street Begging Prohibition Bill 2013 into law on December 19, 2013, Thursday. The new law would, among other things, prohibit child and adult begging in streets, roundabouts, motor parks and corner shops.


The Governor said the prohibition of begging in Kano became necessary in view its negative tendencies and evils associated with it.

Borno State: Army Base Under Heavy Attack By Boko Haram Insurgents

A group of gunmen, allegedly Boko Haram members, stormed military barracks in Borno in the early hours of December 20, 2013, Friday. The army and residents confirmed that the attackers sprayed spraying gunfire on the troops inside before torching the compound. The military has reportedly initiated pursuit of the insurgets.


Mohammed Dole, the Army spokesperson in Borno state, confirmed the attack on the military barracks in the town of Bama. However, he did not confirm the claims of several Bama residents, who said dozens, or perhaps even hundreds, of insurgents armed with assault rifles, explosives and rocket-propelled-grenades swarmed the barracks in a convoy of 4x4 trucks.

Ogun State: Lecturer Shot Dead By Suspected Cultist In Olabisi Onabanjo University

Tragedy struck on Wednesday at the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun, when unknown assailants killed a lecturer, just as ASUU called off its five-month old strike. The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the victim, Dr Segun Onabanjo, was a senior lecturer at the Department of Sociology.

According to eyewitnesses, the assailants broke into his residence in Odomolasa area of Ilese-Ijebu at about 1a.m. on Wednesday, shot the lecturer and carted away some personal and household items. NAN learnt that the corpse has since been deposited in an undisclosed mortuary. When contacted on telephone, the Police Public Relations Officer of Ogun Police Command, DSP Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the killing of the lecturer.

The police in Nasarawa state have arrested two men suspected to be quack doctors are in the police custody in Lafia, Nasarawa State. They were arrested for allegedly carrying out a complicated surgery which resulted in the death of a man in Kadarko area of Keana.


The two were picked up last week according to the state owned radio, the NBS which reported that the patient had died of complications. The report said the proprietor of the illegal clinic called Tamen Clinic in Kadarko was on the run for over two week before being arrested by a team of policemen from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) who given evidence to lead to his prosecution by pathologists from the ministry of health.

Tragic: Female Yam Seller Stabs Man To Death Over N100 In Abuja

In a shocking incident on Wednesday, a yam seller attacked a middle-aged man with a knife in Abuja, leading to his death. Sources revealed that the female yam seller and the man argued over N100 before the woman took hold of a knife and stabbed the man to death.


Sympathisers later informed the police station about the incident and the corpse was removed by the police.

Lagos State: Man Stabs prostitute With A Broken Bottle For Refusing To Give Him Used Condoms

Drama ensued recently in Alhaji Oluseyi Way in Okota, a densely populated area of Lagos when an unidentified man stabbed a commercial sex worker with a bottle for refusing to give him used condoms after sex.


It was gathered that the man, after having an all-night marathon sex with the lady demanded for the used condoms the following day but the lady turned him down, saying that she had disposed them.
